The Deputy Governor of Marib, Dr. Abdrabuh Miftah, met today, Sunday, with the Yemen Program Coordinator at the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Mr. Zubair Yikar Yilmaz, to discuss ways to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and expand development and relief interventions in the governorate, contributing to addressing the growing humanitarian needs.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the humanitarian situation in Yemen in general, and in Marib Governorate in particular, in addition to discussing the key humanitarian projects implemented by the Turkish agency across various Yemeni governorates and their impact in alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable groups.
The Deputy Governor of Marib emphasized the importance of expanding humanitarian interventions in the governorate, noting that the health and education sectors are among the top humanitarian priorities requiring additional support, alongside other essential sectors. He also expressed his aspiration for the implementation of more high-quality projects that meet the needs of both residents and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The visit came within the framework of preparations for the implementation of a project to distribute 70 electric wheelchairs to persons with disabilities in Marib Governorate. The project will be implemented by the Coalition of Relief and Building (CRB) with funding from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), in a step aimed at improving the quality of life of the beneficiaries and enhancing their mobility and independence.
For his part, the Yemen Program Coordinator at TİKA, Mr. Zubair Yikar Yilmaz, expressed the agency’s commitment to continuing its humanitarian support in Yemen, affirming its aspiration to implement as many humanitarian interventions and projects as possible during the coming period, in accordance with the available resources and capacities, and in a manner that contributes to addressing the most urgent humanitarian needs.
