In one of the displacement camps in Marib governorate, Ali – with special needs – lived a difficult and harsh life with his family of six.

“Ali”, who has a motor disability that left him unable to walk or move independently, lived with his family in a worn-out tent, prone to extreme cold in winter and extreme heat in summer.

Ali describes his severe struggles in the displacement tent by saying, “I went through difficult times. The bone was dwelling on my bones when I fell asleep to wear all my heavy clothes.” He adds, “Summer is also not without suffering the intensity of the heat. I was forced to lie on the ground from the intensity of the heat.”

One day, Ali heard about the Coalition of Relief and Building(CRB) , a non-governmental development relief forum concerned with addressing the immediate and sustainable humanitarian needs of those affected, in need and displaced persons in Yemen, and applied for assistance and his request was accepted.

Coalition of Relief and Building (CRB) built a two-room, bathroom and kitchen housing unit from

Bricks and reinforced concrete are equipped with basic amenities for Ali and his family.

Upon handing over the housing unit, Ali expressed great joy and happiness, expressing gratitude to Coalition of Relief and Building (CRB)and everyone who contributed to the construction and equipping of his new home, and said: “This housing unit has changed my life, I no longer suffer from extreme cold or free, and I feel safe and stable in my new home.”

The “Ali” story illustrates the importance of humanitarian action in Yemen under the difficult conditions of the population, and stresses that relief and development assistance is essential, providing minimum basic life needs for affected, displaced and impoverished families
