Coalition of Relief and Development Launches “Water Supply Project” to Alleviate Suffering in Marib IDPs Camps
July 30, 2025During the first half of 2025, the Coalition of Relief and Building (CRB) continued its impactful humanitarian mission by implementing a wide range of relief and development projects targeting the most vulnerable communities across several Yemeni governorates. This came in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the worsening conditions faced by displaced and impoverished families.
Significant Humanitarian Impact
Throughout this period, CRB implemented projects across six key sectors, benefiting 104,466 households—amounting to over 790,962 individuals. These efforts reflected CRB’s commitment to addressing urgent humanitarian needs and alleviating the ongoing crisis affecting communities across the country.
Prominent Presence in Food Security
The Food Security and Agriculture sector stood out as the most prominent area of intervention. CRB implemented a variety of projects benefiting more than 92,000 households, or approximately 583,000 individuals. These included both seasonal and long-term initiatives, such as the distribution of sacrificial meat (udhiyah), food baskets, dates, and Ramadan iftar meals. Emergency responses were also carried out, including the distribution of fresh meat, hot meals, and daily bread—an essential intervention in displacement areas.
Expanding Access to Clean Water
In the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, the Forum significantly increased its interventions to address water scarcity in several governorates. Key projects included drilling and operating surface wells, building water storage tanks, supplying and installing submersible pumps, establishing water distribution networks, and providing clean water via tankers. Hygiene kits were also distributed. These interventions benefited 11,632 households, or more than 81,425 individuals, across Taiz, Hajjah, Aden, Marib, and Al Hudaydah.
Focus on Vulnerable Groups
In the Protection sector, CRB focused on supporting vulnerable populations by implementing targeted projects that reached 401 households and 7,149 individuals. These included cash assistance for orphans, Eid gifts and clothing for children, and support programs such as debt relief and Zakat al-Fitr distribution—aimed at easing the financial burdens on low-income families.
Promoting Economic Empowerment
As part of its Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment efforts, CRB launched six micro-projects in Marib governorate, benefiting six families and 42 individuals. These included a hardware store, a mobile phone repair center, an onion farm, sheep breeding, and a youth-led media initiative. Each project was designed to help families generate sustainable income.
Health Sector Support
In the Health sector, the Coalition provided therapeutic assistance and launched humanitarian initiatives, such as hospital visits and the distribution of gifts to patients. A total of 905 individuals in Marib, Aden, and Taiz benefited from these efforts that reflect CRB’s restless commitment to both humanitarian relief and community development, and its mission to enhance societal resilience amid growing challenges.
Continued Commitment
Dr. Kamal Al-Qudami, CRB head, expressed pride in CRB’s achievements and emphasized its continued dedication to scaling up humanitarian operations in line with its mission to preserve human dignity and provide critical support during Yemen’s severe humanitarian crisis.
Al-Qudami stated, “Through its humanitarian and development projects in a number of Yemeni governorates, the Coalition is working to provide relief to affected families, particularly in governorates suffering from high levels of displacement and difficult conditions.”
He also extended his appreciation to all funding partners and stakeholders who have supported CRB’s projects and helped overcome obstacles to reach beneficiaries of all backgrounds.
Dr. Ezz Adine Methqal, CRB’s Director General, also commended the exceptional efforts of project teams and field staff. He praised the dedication of workers, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to the CRB’s success during the first half of the year.
It’s worth mentioning that for years, the Coalition of Relief and Building (CRB) has played a vital role in improving living conditions for vulnerable and host communities across Yemen. Its efforts aim to preserve human dignity, support families and children, and promote stability amid worsening humanitarian conditions and deteriorating basic services.
